Goodbye Year 6 2018

An emotional farewell to our super Year 6 children and a brilliant thank you to their parents.

It has been a busy and emotional final week at GHF for our Year 6 children. They started the week with a treat of bowling (kindly funded by the FSA) and picnic in the park and then put together their thoughts and memories for their Leavers Service.

On Thursday evening, they worked with Darren from Roots to Food to prepare and serve a fantastic three-course dinner for their parents and teachers – 80 people. The children all had different roles, from waiters to chefs, and did a brilliant job – they were so professional! They worked really hard to deliver lovely and memorable evening for everyone to say a huge thank you.

As a tribute to the children, we played a video that we had put together charting their journey from baby to Reception to Year 6.  There were giggles from the children and a few tears from the grown-ups!

On Friday morning, their last ever day at GHF, we held a beautiful Leavers Service. It was wonderful to hear all the children’s fondest and funniest memories of their time here and the grown-ups who had supported them. As always, the singing was brilliant, especially when the Year 6 children sang their version of This Is Me and all the children sang The Call. Although there were lots more tears, the service was lifted with the Y6 children’s special awards, such as the ‘bossiest’ children, the ‘sporty ones’ and the ‘class clowns’.

We are very proud that these children have been part of our community and know that, wherever they go, they will be equally respected and valued.

For everyone at GHF, it has been both a pleasure and honour to see these children on their learning journey and see how individually, they have grown and flourished. And now they are leaving us for the next stage in their life, their education, we hope they keep on following in God’s footsteps and living by our GHF values, so that they continue to flourish and that they will always strive to be the best that they can be!
